Last weekend I was in Wellington, and on the Sunday morning took my nieces, aged 2 and 5, to Mass. They were quite well behaved but it gave me a little glimpse into the experience parents of young children must have when they come to Mass. My attention constantly switched between the words of the Mass and the wriggles and needs and questions of my nieces – their distractedness became mine.
